Dear Families,
Wow! What a week to start the year! Began with an eclipse and ended with a hurricane! A BIG Thank You to Mrs.Larrea and Mrs.Thompson for stepping up to be our homeroom moms. They play such a huge part in creating memorable and enriching moments for your kiddo! It was wonderful coming to school this morning with Juliette and getting to see all your sweet faces! October 27th will be here before we know it. Mrs. Tjon has told me how impressed she is with the class and I can't wait to get to know each of you more! Read aloud book- Wonder: We are excited to start the year with such an inspirational and touching novel study. We will be reading this as a class. Please do not have your student read this book at home. It is not required for your student to have a copy, but they often like to have their own. I've found them for $10.50 hardback or $9.99 kindle download on Amazon. Feel free to download it to your child's ebook if you are ok with them bringing their electronic devices to school. Thank you and be sure to ask your students about the life of August Pullman! Arrivals: When students arrive at school, they can enter the building as early as 7:20 am. Morning work begins promptly at 7:20 am. The tardy bell rings at 7:40 a.m., and students must be present at this time. Any student arriving after 7:40 a.m. must report to the office for a tardy slip. Dismissal: Discuss a consistent place for your child to meet you after dismissal. Thank you for having a plan in place. Snack anyone? We will have snacks right after recess at 10:30 a.m. Please help your child choose a healthy snack to bring to class each day. We also welcome students to bring a water bottle. On days when we have inclement weather or the heat index is too high, we will have a break in our day for indoor recess. The safety of our children is foremost in our minds. Wish List: Please feel free to take a posted item from our wish list wall located outside our classroom. Thank you to those who have already made a donation! Birthday Parties: If desired, parents are able to purchase frozen yogurt, frozen fruit bars or cookies through the school cafeteria for an entire class. Arrangements for birthday items should be made through the cafeteria prior to the occasion to ensure sufficient quantities are available. In addition, students may bring store/bakery bought treat or fun toy to school for distribution at the end of the school day. So we do not have hurt feelings, please do not distribute birthday invitations during school hours. Parent Meeting: Back to School Night will be Tuesday, September 12 at 7:00 pm This is a very important informational meeting for parents and for that reason we ask you to make arrangements for childcare. We look forward to seeing you there. Multiplication Math Facts: Students should be able to recall all multiplication facts through 10 X 10 with instant recall. Mastery of these facts are essential as fact recall is a cornerstone of our curriculum! Please work on this skill at home. Peachjar: Please click on the Peachjar link found on the CCE home page for informational flyers.
