I would like to take a minute to welcome Esteban and his family to our classroom family. He has jumped right in and we are so very excited to have them a part of our Canyon Community!
It was great to attend a conference that I can immediately begin using the concepts. It was also nice to have time during lunch to chew, chat and swallow!! All fourth grade teachers have been trained in Capturing Kids' Hearts. Social contracts will be used in hopes that students will self manage by making good choices. We began our Social Contract this afternoon and will continue to work on it next week. 4th Grade has taken over the Denim Drive. The children have made posters, presentations for broadcast,, and will count donations. Please consider donating any unwanted denim clothing for our drive. Our goal is 200 pairs of jeans. But, we will certainly accept denim shirts and jackets. October Night Writes are due October 27th. Students will write one narrative. The narrative will need to go through the process of brainstorming, planning, rough draft, revising and editing, and final copy that is to be initialed by the parent. This will be a multi-paragraphed composition. The expository will go through the brainstorming, planning, rough draft, revising and editing, and final copy steps, HOWEVER, the expository will only be one Stoplight paragraph. It must contain a main idea sentence, 3-5 supporting detail sentences (their reasons and examples), and a closing sentence that retells/ reflects on the main topic. This will need to be initialed also. Thank you so much for all you've done to help them with this process.
